Lee Johnson was asked about Grigg’s future on Thursday and admitted he was happy to see the forward stay at the Stadium of Light – but wouldn’t stand in the way of an exit either.

But only if Sunderland can sign a replacement.

The Shropshire Star report: “City have reportedly agreed to the 29-year-old striker’s loan terms, including a percentage of his salary at the Stadium of Light, but Sunderland has yet to give the green light for the change.

Ross Stewart of Ross County is fighting for possession.

“This is while Lee Johnson’s team is working on a move to come up with a forward to replace Grigg.”

It comes as Football Insider reports Sunderland has rejected an offer of £ 120,000 for Ross County striker Ross Stewart.

They claim the six-figure offer was rejected with the Scottish side holding £ 500,000.

However, Johnson has already made it clear that it will likely be Sunderland-only loan deals this month.

Meanwhile, Oxford United boss Karl Robinson said he was “desperate” to sign Grigg this month.

Robinson was very keen on the group’s frontman last January, before then-manager Phil Parkinson decided to keep the forward at Wearside.

But with the door now seemingly open for Grigg to leave Wearside this month, Oxford is back in the race again.

Shrewsbury Town was apparently the favorite to seal a loan for the Northern Ireland international, who has not played since mid-December.

But Robinson is keen to get the forward to Kassam Stadium before Monday’s deadline.
