Well, it might have taken a little while, but better late than never. Justice triumphs once again for the Pittsfield Police Department!
As many of you may recall, in early August a fire which was later determined to be intentionally started burned the south side door of St. Joseph’s Church on North Street. in Pittsfield.
According to a press release from Pittsfield Police Departmenton August 4, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a patrol boat from Pittsfield noticed the fire. The officer requested a response from the Pittsfield Fire Department. It was evident that the fire had been kindled intentionally. The PFD quickly managed to extinguish the fire, but the door sustained significant burn marks on the interior and exterior sides.
Pittsfield Police said it was a determined investigative effort that led to the arrest of two men. The two suspects, identified as Michael Innis, 53, and Brock Randolph, 34, were arrested and charged with one count of building fire. Officials say additional charges may be forthcoming.
The Pittsfield Police Department also said that although the two men currently reside in Pittsfield, each has ties to the eastern part of the state.
