Karnataka man sets fire to bank after loan application rejected

A man from Haveri district, Karnataka is said to have set fire to a bank after his loan application was rejected. According to the police, the accused wanted a loan and he approached the bank. However, the bank rejected his loan application after checking the documents.

The accused, who came by bicycle in the early hours of Sunday, poured gasoline after breaking the windows of the bank before setting it on fire. Bank documents, furniture, computers were reduced to ashes because of the fire.

Afterwards, the villagers saw smoke billowing from the bank and rushed to the spot. They called the fire brigade and also grabbed the accused and handed him over to the police. Kaginele police recorded statements from the villagers. The police registered the case under Sections 436, 477, 435 of the Indian Penal Code.
